Title

PRIOR APPROVAL OF FISCAL YEAR 2016 SPENDING GREATER THAN $25,000 WITH PALM  BEACH STATE COLLEGE

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to Approve multiple acquisitions of education and training related services, from Palm Beach State College, in a total not-to-exceed amount of $50,000 for Fiscal Year 2016.

Body

Background:

A number of City departments utilize Palm Beach State College for educational and training related services such as specialized education courses for Fire Department personnel. These courses enhance skills and better-prepare staff for providing the highest level of services to the City and its residents.  Palm Beach State College frequently provides the lowest quotes for education and training related services.  Therefore, City staff is requesting approval to use Palm Beach State College for multiple acquisitions during Fiscal Year 2016 in a not-to-exceed amount of $50,000. To date in Fiscal Year 2016, Palm Beach State has been awarded orders totalling $24,133.09.

By approving the recommended motion, the Commission is recognizing that multiple small and unpredictable purchase decisions that are likely to occur over the course of the year will total over $ 25,000. This amount of spending requires prior Commission approval under code section 36.03(B) Multiple acquisitions from vendor exceeding $25,000 in any Fiscal Year.
