Title

AWARD OF A PURCHASE ORDER TO CDW GOVERNMENT, INC. FOR IN-VEHICLE ARBITRATOR CAMERAS

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to Award a Purchase Order to CDW Government Inc. for in-vehicle Arbitrator cameras and accessories in the Not-To-Exceed amount of $92,000.

Body

Background:

On June 30, 2016, Purchasing issued an Invitation to Bid No. 2016-126 for the purchase of Panasonic in-vehicle Arbitrator cameras and accessories. Twenty-four suppliers viewed the Invitation to Bid documents via BidSync, with only one response from CDW Government Inc. The total amount of the CDW bid was $91,139.05 which incudes the fifteen front view cameras, thirteen backseat cameras, and the required cables, sensors, microphones and other accessories. The additional $860 requested is to cover any incidental accessories required for installation. The cameras will be installed in the recently ordered replacement and new vehicles with one camera reserved for installation in an upcoming replacement vehicle order. This equipment is used daily during routine traffic enforcement and community patrols. The cameras provide secure solid evidence for criminal prosecution, real time recording of events, and provide enhanced officer safety. The evidence from the cameras also reduces the likelihood of civil liability claims.

This motion to award is in accordance with the City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 36, Section 36.02(A)(1), "Competitive Bids".
