Motion to approve the Collective Bargaining Agreements between the City of Delray Beach and the Professional Fire Fighter Of Delray Beach, IAFF Local 1842 Inc. for Supervisory Bargaining Unit

 

Body

Background:

City Staff has tentatively agreed to a one-year collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the City of Delray Beach and The Professional Fire Fighter Of Delray Beach, IAFF Local 1842 Inc., for the Supervisory Bargaining Unit. This CBA will be in effect from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027.

A summary of the key changes are as follows:

 

1. Salaries (Article 12): The established Salary Step Plan provides a three and one-half percent (3.5%) Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA), effective October 1. On their anniversary date, all eligible employees shall advance to the next step corresponding to their years of service. Employees who have reached the final step of their pay grade shall receive a top-out bonus, which shall not be added to base salary.

 

COLA (3.5%) - $69,403

Top Out Pay -  $56,344

FY 26/27 Total - $ 125,747

 

The COLA increase is consistent with that being granted to all City General Employees

 on October 1, 2026.

 

City Attorney Review:

Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.

 

Funding Source/Financial Impact:

 

COLA (3.5%) - $69,403

Top Out Pay -  $56,344

FY 26/27 Total - $ 125,747

 

Timing of Request:

This is a time sensitive item as the collective bargaining agreement stipulates implementation on October 1, 2026. Commission approval is required for implementation.
