Title
ACCEPTANCE OF SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY OF PALM BEACH COUNTY’S BLIGHTED AND DISTRESSED PROPERTY CLEAN-UP GRANT

Body
Recommended Action:
Recommendation
Accept the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County’s Blighted and Distressed Property Cealn-Up Grant award and authorize the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency Board Chair to execute an Interlocal Grant Agreement by and between the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County and the CRA in an amount not to exceed $30,000.

Body
Background:
On September 23, 2024, Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) staff submitted a grant application in response to the Solid Waste Authority (SWA) of Palm Beach County’s Blighted and Distressed Property Clean-up and Beautification Grant Application. The CRA requested $30,000 for the demolition of a dilapidated structure located at 111 NW 11th Avenue and site cleaning of the property to make way for the future construction of affordable/workforce single-family housing.

At the October 23, 2024, Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners Meeting, the CRA’s grant application was approved for the full amount of $30,000.

The SWA grant funds help advance the CRA mission of eliminating slum and blight. Blight prevention and beautification through demolition improves the appearance of neighborhoods within the CRA District, while making way for future development in the area, particularly in the West Atlantic Neighborhoods that comprise The Set, as called for by the CRA Redevelopment Plan.

At this time, CRA staff is requesting the CRA Board approve the Fiscal Year 2025 Blighted and Distressed Property Clean Up Grant Interlocal Agreement with the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County and authorize the CRA Board Chair to execute the Interlocal Agreement.
