Special Events Technical Advisory Committee (SETAC) recommends the Development Services Management Group (DSMG) approve the special event known as Delray Beach Bed Races to be held on October 19, 2024; and authorize the Special Event Manager (SEM) to take all actions necessary to effectuate the Special Event Permit.

Body

Background:

The Delray Concours Foundation submitted a Special Event Application on August 1, 2024 to change the date of the previously approved event Delray Beach Bed Races.  This event is the 17th Annual Delray Beach Bed Races. This event includes beds on wheels and teams of people racing them down 2nd Ave.  This event will benefit the Fire Benevolent, Achievement Center and EJS Project. The Bed Races have been going on in Pineapple Grove for sixteen years.  The Bed Races will also feature live music. The event producer expects around 1000 people in attendance to watch and participate.

Special Event Technical Advisory Committee (SETAC):

SETAC recommends DSMG approve the event.

No special conditions are recommended by SETAC

Funding Source/Financial Impact:

There is no financial impact to the City as all costs will be billed to event producer.

Timing of Request:

The event is just around the corner and event producer needs to advertise.
