Motion to Award a purchase to Alan Jay Fleet Sales in the amount of $87,967 for one (1) Ford F550 truck with a diamond back refuse body.

Background:
Environmental Services is requesting approval to purchase one (1) new Diamond Back Refuse Body on a new 2016 Ford F-550 Cab and Chassis, using Florida Sherriff’s Association Contract #15-13-0904, Specification No. 9. Please find attached for your review the letter indicating the best price from Alan Jay Fleet Sales. The new Diamond Back Refuse Body on a new 2016 Ford F-550 Cab and Chassis is to replace existing truck #794 assigned to Parks Maintenance. The total expense for the replacement Refuse Truck is $87,967.00. This purchase is in accordance with the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 36, Section 36.02 (C)(7)(a), "Utilization of Other Governmental Entities' Contracts".
This is a replacement for a 1999 Ford Refuse Truck. The 16 year old truck has exceeded its useful life. The mileage on the existing truck is 178,985 miles. There have been signficant repair and maintenance issues and it continues to be prone to mechanical issues which results in excess out of service time.
