Motion to Approve ratification of Change Order No. 1 with Aquifer Maintenance & Performance Systems (AMPS) in the amount of $8,232.00 for the production Well Rehabilitation Project (Project No. 2015-019) pursuant to the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 36, Section 36.06 (A)(2), “Change Orders; Within the Scope of Work”. Funding is available from 442-5178-536-68.14 (Water and Sewer Renewal and Replacement Fund: Production Well Rehabilitation).

Background:
City Commission approved an award to Aquifer Maintenance & Performance Systems, Inc. (AMPS) on June 2, 2015 in the amount not to exceed $120,260 for rehabilitating seven (7) raw water wells, utilizing contract pricing under an existing Martin County contract (RFB2012-2540). The scope of work entails cleaning the casing and screens, acid/chemical injection, and well development which consist of jetting/airlifting of debris for each respective well.

At one of the wells, Well #24, the preliminary inspection video revealed a small separation on the wells screen at a depth of approximately 103 feet. Utilizing the contract pricing under the Martin County contract, the additional work required to repair the deteriorated section of the screen is estimated at $8,232. Staff considered this additional work to be within scope, as it does not materially expand or alter the scope of work. As such, staff requested authorization from the City Manager to proceed with the repair, which was granted on December 11, 2015.
