Motion to Ratify the appointed member to the Board of Trustees for the Police Officers' Retirement System.

 

Body

Background:

The Board of Trustees for the Police Officers’ Retirement System was established by Ordinance No. 17-16 on October 1, 2016. The purpose of the Board is to continue providing retirement benefits to City Police Officers and their beneficiaries, as provided in Sections 33.60 through 33.74 below.  However, the benefit changes in sections 33.60, 33.62, and 33.68, and the change in Section 33.64(B) shall take effect on the effective date of this ordinance. Pursuant to Section 33.65(A)(3) Administration - A fifth member shall be chosen by a majority of the other four members. Such person’s name shall be submitted to the City Commission, which shall, as a ministerial act, appoint such person to the board of trustees.

A check for code violations and/or municipal liens was conducted.  None were found.  Voter registration verification was completed and the individual is registered.  

 

Recommend City Commission approves and ratifies the appointed member for a four (4) year term.
