Motion to Approve Service Authorization 12-20.1 to Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. in the amount not-to-exceed $9,236.46 for professional engineering design services relating to water main upgrades along NW 1st Avenue and NW 2nd Avenue, from NW 3rd Street to NW 3rd Court.

Background:
On March 15, 2016, City Commission approved Service Authorization No.12-20 in the amount not to exceed $130,990.68 for design services related to upgrading water mains along four street sections; NW 1st Avenue/ NW 2nd Avenue, NW 17th Street, Prospect Street, and SW 11th Street (Project No. 16-033).
The original scope of work included a design of a new 8” water main along NW 2nd Avenue going north to Lake Ida Road and relocating a limited number of water services on NW 3rd Court and NW 1st Avenue. Underground investigations during the design phase revealed that the sizes of the water mains originally noted along NW 3rd Court and NW 1st Avenue were undersized and needed to be upgraded to the minimum 8-inch size to allow for proper fire flow protection. The scope of services for the proposed amendment to the service authorization includes the addition of a new 8-inch water main along NW 2nd Avenue and along NW 1st Avenue, from NW 3rd Street, north and including NW 3rd Court.
This service authorization includes engineering design, permitting, surveying, and bidding services for construction of the water main upgrades.
