Motion to Approve a purchase award to Alan Jay Chevrolet Cadillac, Inc. DBA Alan Jay Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac for the purchase of one 2017 Chevy Express Cargo Van (specification #37) for the Parks and Recreation Department in the amount of $26,140.25 utilizing the Florida Sheriff's Association Contract #FSA16-VEL24.0.

Background:

On October 1, 2016 the Florida Sheriff's Association awarded Contract # FSA16-VEL24.0 for vehicles. The contract is valid through September 30, 2017. Awards were made for Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, and Toyota vehicles. Alan Jay Chevrolet Cadillac, Inc. DBA Alan Jay Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac is an authorized Chevrolet dealership and honors the Florida Sheriff's Association contract pricing.

The purchase of this van was approved by City Commission on the Capital Improvement Projects Plan for Fiscal year 2017, Project 17014.

 

Parks and Recreation Department, is requesting approval to purchase this van  which will be used for transporting items to city facilities during emergency events and for the purpose of transporting tents, chairs and equipment to Special Events. Currently, personal cars and parks maintenance are being used. This van with serve a dual purpose and be used by staff to transport emergency supplies and meals during hurricanes and other emergency situations, and also be used to bring parks and recreation supplies to and from events at parks and other locations within the city.

 

This recommendation complies with the City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 36, Section 36.02(C)(7), “Utilization of Other Governmental Entities’ Contracts”.

 

City Attorney Review:

Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.

 

Finance Department Review:

Finance recommends approval.

 

Funding Source:

Funding is available from account number 334-4151-572.64-90 (General Construction Fund: Other Machinery/Equipment).
