Motion to Approve a Purchase Award to Americas Generators, Inc. for Fixed and Portable Generators for Public Utilities in an amount of $213,629.68.

Background:
On February 23, 2017, the City issued a solicitation for Fixed and Portable Generators (ITB No. 2017-043). Five responsible and responsive bids were received from the following companies: Americas Generators, Inc., Flagler Construction Equipment, LLC, Genset Services, Inc., Lightning Power EL Inc. and Scan-AM Marine Services, Inc. d/b/a OK Generators. The lowest bidder was Americas Generators, Inc.
Fixed and portable generators help to ensure that the City’s utilities operate at the required level of service to maintain public health. Best practices for utility operations call for an on-going program of managing generators used at various utility sites during power outages. The City currently has fifty (50) generators that are either fixed (mounted in place), or are trailer-mounted (portable) units which provide electricity for sewage lift stations, stormwater pump stations, raw water production wells, and other operational facilities during power outages.
Public Utilities includes the upgrade or replacement of fixed and portable generators in the CIP each year as they approach the end of their life cycle or maintenance expenses warrant replacement. The replacement program is designed to replace units on a rotational schedule to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency. These five generators are part of the Public Utilities generator replacement program.
