Motion to Approve the submission of City of Delray Beach Parks and Recreation grant application to National Recreation and Park Association Meet Me at the Park in an amount not to exceed $50,000.

Background:
Parks and Recreation is seeking approval to apply for a grant through the National Recreation and Park Association/Disney Meet Me at the Park Grant in an amount not to exceed $50,000. If awarded, the funds will be used to enhance the existing play structure at Catherine Strong Park, which is located adjacent to the Splash Pad, to include accessible design features and surfacing material, as well as a shade structure. An additional shade structure will also be placed over the second play structure located at Catherine Strong Park, which is adjacent to the portable classrooms. Both play structures are heavily utilized by park participants and the new features will enhance and revitalize the public play spaces.

This grant has a 1:1 required match. Eligible match funds can include cash, staff time, construction costs and design fees.

Total amount of funding available: $800,000.
Number of anticipated grants: 30
Average grant amount: $26,000.
Maximum grant to be awarded: $50,000.
Minimum grant to be awarded: $10,000.
Grant applications are due by 11:50PM on June 23, 2017.
