Motion to Award a construction agreement to Marine Engineering and Construction, Inc. for Island Drive Seawall Repairs in a total amount not to exceed amount of $180,000 (Project No. 17-044).

Background:
On March 28, 2017 Purchasing issued an Invitation to Bid Construction, No. 2017-046 for Island Drive Seawall Repairs. Two bids were received from Marine Engineering and Construction, Inc and PAC Comm. The lowest responsive and responsible bidder is Marine Engineering and Construction, Inc. in the amount of $180,000.
This project includes the removal and replacement of approximately 35 linear feet of damaged seawall. The seawall will be reconstructed and raised approximately twenty inches to account for sea level rise, wave action, and king tide events.
This recommendation complies with the City Code of Ordinances, Section 36.02, "Commission Approval Required".

Finance recommends approval.
Funding Source:
Funding is available from account number 448-5461-538.63-38 (Storm Water Utility Fund: Island Drive Drainage).
Timing of Request:
Completion of the seawall repairs as soon as possible is necessary due to the deteriorating conditions of the seawall.
