Body

Background:

An accreditation program has long been recognized as a means of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Accreditation is the certification by an independent reviewing authority that an entity has met specific requirements and prescribed standards. Law enforcement agencies and Inspector Generals in Florida can attain accredited status through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc.

The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. recognizes there are dedicated individuals and committees that go above and beyond expectations or have developed innovative ways of doing business that deserve special recognition through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. awards program.  Awards program recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to the law enforcement field. The Accreditation Manager of the Year Award honors a highly motivated individual who has exhibited the skills to accomplish the agency's goals of achieving state accreditation and all related activities.

Ms. Maria Marino-Bollan became the Accreditation Manager for the Delray Beach Police Department in 2002.  Ms. Marino-Bollan led the department through its initial accreditation in 2004 and under her guidance and expertise, the Delray Beach Police Department continued to comply with the training, policy, and procedural standards established by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and successfully achieved 2007, 2010, 2013, and most recently 2016 re-accreditation.

Being recognized as an accredited agency is a privilege and an honor, and although Maria was instrumental in the Department’s success, she is always quick to recognize and give credit to her entire workforce.  She believes that without the knowledge, expertise and professionalism of all its employees, the Department’s accredited status could not have been achieved. Maria serves as an example of department-wide teamwork whether it’s conducting in-house training on the accreditation process or ensuring that department activities are CFA-compliant. Employees will seek her guidance to ensure a new practice or policy revision is being done in accordance with accreditation standards.

Because of Maria’s work effort in the accreditation field, and other significant internal projects as assigned, she has received countless awards and recognitions both internally and externally which include anything from Employee of the Month, Department Administrative Excellence, and Chief’s Achievements, to Project of the Year from the International Association of Law Enforcement Planners and Employee of the Year from Delray Citizens for Delray Police.

Maria currently serves on the Certified Accreditation Professionals Committee, and is one of its founding members who helped develop this prestigious accreditation certification program designed specifically for accreditation professionals throughout the State of Florida.  She has professionally met the requirements to be certified and recertified as an Accreditation Professional, herself, since 2013. She is a member of CFA’s Standards Review and Interpretations Committee also since 2013.  Maria has been a CFA assessor for 10 years conducting a total of 25 Mock and Onsite assessments.  Maria is passionate and committed to CFA and this award is well deserved.

The City Commission of the City of Delray Beach commends Maria Marino-Bollan for her continued diligence, professionalism, and commitment in maintaining Police Department accredited status and congratulates her for receiving this prestigious award for her outstanding work and continuous pursuit of excellence in the law enforcement accreditation field.
