Background:

On February 16, 2017, a Request for Qualifications No. 2017-030 for the design of the Marine Way roadway corridor between the Atlantic Avenue Bridge to the north and the City Marina to the south, including Deck 84 was advertised.  Three responsive and responsible proposals were received March 16, 2017 from Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Mott MacDonald Florida, LLC and Wantman Group, Inc. Proposals were evaluated based upon the criteria in the RFQ. The final ranking of firms is as follows:

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson                                          64.8

Mott MacDonald Florida, LLC                                           74.3

Wantman Group, Inc.                                                                83.6

The scope of work includes permitting and design of the roadway, stormwater collection system, walkway/promenade, seawall, street lighting and other amenities including marginal docks and coastline mitigation along the corridor of the Marine Way.

Staff was successful in negotiating an Agreement with Wantman Group, Inc. that includes scope, schedule and fees. The Agreement staff is presenting to Commission is for a not-to-exceed amount of $284,773.

This will support the City’s mission by improving flood protection of the Marina basin, restore the Marine Way roadway, provide a promenade/walkway between Veteran’s Park and the City Marina and protect the city’s roadway from almost monthly tidal flooding.
