Background:

This ordinance is before the Commission to consider an amendment to Chapter 96, “Fire Safety and Emergency Services, by amending 96.16, “Certain Codes Adopted by Reference” to comply with the State of Florida’s updated changes in the Fire Prevention Code Standards.  The State of Florida requires municipalities to re-adopt of the Florida Fire Prevention Code every three years. In addition, the City is required to re-adopt existing City codes that will enhance the state requirements at the local level.
