Title

APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT NO. 1 WITH TANNER INDUSTRIES, INC. TO RENEW THE AGREEMENT TERM FOR ANHYDROUS AMMONIA

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to approve Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with Tanner Industries, Inc. for anhydrous ammonia in an amount not-to-exceed $58,000 through April 1, 2019, and authorize the City Manager to execute all remaining options to renew.

Body

Background:

On April 2, 2015, the City of Delray Beach (City) issued an agreement with Tanner Industries, Inc. for the purchase and delivery of anhydrous ammonia (Agreement) in accordance with ITB No. 2015-09. The Agreement is effective through April 1, 2018 with two additional one-year renewal options. The City and Tanner Industries have mutually agreed to exercise the first renewal option.  Amendment No. 1 will renew the Agreement through April 1, 2019 in an amount not-to-exceed $58,000.  City Commission approval is required for this amendment because the cumulative contract value exceeds $65,000.

Anhydrous Ammonia (ammonia without water), in conjunction with chlorine, is used in water treatment to produce potable water.   Combined, these chemicals produce chloramines, which last longer than chlorine and offer consistent bacterial control.  It also helps by regulating disinfectant by-products.

This motion is in accordance with the City Code of Ordinances, Section 36 and City Policies and Procedures, Change Orders and Amendments; Contracts must be amended in the same manner in which they were executed.
