Title

RATIFICATION OF AN EMERGENCY PURCHASE TO MBR CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR DEBRIS MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOLLOWING HURRICANE IRMA

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to ratify an emergency purchase to MBR Construction, Inc. in the amount of $271,872.91 for debris management services following Hurricane Irma.

Body

Background:

Following Hurricane Irma, City of Delray Beach (City) City Manager approved an emergency acquisition for debris management with MBR Construction, Inc. (MBR).  The City possesses a contract with Ash-Britt for debris management, but they were unable to perform certain aspects of the debris removal due to lack of equipment.  With the possibility of another storm approaching, and to provide Delray Beach residents with a timely post-hurricane clean-up, the City contacted and authorized MBR to assist with the debris management.  The City contacted MBR to assist with this need in an effort to save time, money and resources since their equipment was already located in our City, as MBR is the contractor completing the Beach Master Plan project.  The cost for the debris management assistance is $271,872.91.

This motion is in accordance with the City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 36, Commission Approval Required and City Policies, Emergency Purchases.
