Body
Recommended Action:
Recommendation
Motion to approve a Utility Work by Highway Contractor Agreement (UWHCA) with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for performing design and construction services to relocate and adjust water utilities relating to the FDOT's US-1/ Federal Highway from north of George Bush Boulevard to the C-16 Canal, FDOT Financial Project ID No. 434722-1-56-02 (City Project No. 18-001) for a lump sum of $6,496.
Body
Background:
The FDOT has proposed roadway enhancements for US-1 / Federal Highway from North of George Bush Boulevard to C-16 Canal (Boynton Beach south of Gateway Boulevard) which are in the design phase by the FDOT’s consultant. The enhancements primarily consist of milling and resurfacing of the roadway pavement. To accommodate the enhancements, water and sewer mains and associated appurtenances (valves, meters, manholes, etc) that are currently in FDOT’s right-of-way within the footprint of the proposed improvements will need to be relocated and/or adjusted. As a part of the preliminary design, the design consultant has identified nine manholes and two water valves along the corridor that conflict with the proposed improvements. The FDOT’s design consultant, F.R. Aleman & Associates, will include the utilities relocations with the FDOT’s highway construction documents, to be bid and constructed with the roadway enhancements. The FDOT will include the design and construction of these utilities relocations for a lump sum fee of $6,496.
The attached “Utility Work by Highway Contractor Agreement” between the FDOT and the City of Delray Beach will allow the FDOT to have their design consultant and construction contractor perform the utilities relocations.
