Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to approve Resolution 72-18 appointing a Chair and Vice-Chair to the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Delray Beach and Resolution 73-18 appointing two additional persons to act as members of the Community Redevelopment Agency.

Body

Background:

On May 1, 2018, the City Commission of the City of Delray Beach adopted Ordinance 06-18 declaring and establishing itself as the governing body of the Community Redevelopment Agency.  In addition, on the same date, the City Commission adopted Resolution 57-18 requiring the selection of a Chair and Vice-Chair and reserving the right to appoint two (2) additional members to act as members of the CRA.

Resolution 72-18 provides for the appointment of the Chair and Vice-Chair.  In addition, if the Commission elects to exercise its right under Florida Statute 163.357 to appoint two (2) additional members, Resolution 73-18 provides for this.  It should be noted that, in accordance with Florida Statute 163.357, the first person to be appointed would serve for a period of two (2) years and the second person to be appointed would serve for a period of four (4) years.  Thereafter, all individual members appointed to the CRA would serve four (4) years terms.
