Background:
In 1989, the City received an Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG) grant in the amount of $3,840,000. Based on our knowledge and research with HUD staff, the proceeds of any UDAG income to the City are basically required to be reinvested in eligible economic development activities as listed in Title 42, Chapter 69 Section 5305 (activities to be eligible for assistance) of the Community Development Laws and Regulations.
As a result, the City asked the Housing Task Force to evaluate the current needs of the community and develop strategies that will provide opportunities to citizens, being fair and equitable, with the intent to create wealth and affordable housing opportunities for all citizens within the incorporated Delray Beach city limits.
