Recommendation

Motion to approve Resolution No. 144-18 to award an agreement with Precision Contracting Services, Inc. for fiber optic engineering, design, material supplies and installation utilizing Palm Beach County Solicitation No. 18-055/HS for a total agreement value not-to-exceed $160,000 through August 20, 2019.

Body

Background:

On August 21, 2018, Palm Beach County (PBC) entered into a one-year agreement with Precision Contracting Services, Inc. (PCS) for fiber optic engineering, design, material supplies and installation (PBC Contract).  The PBC Contract is valid through August 20, 2019, with the option to renew for up to an additional four years.

The City of Delray Beach (City) has an ongoing need for the products and services offered by PCS through the PBC Contract. The fiber optic cabling runs from one physical location to another and is necessary to provide network accessibility and internet capability between properties owned and/or operated by the City.  The City has various upcoming projects (foreseen projects are listed below) that will require either existing fiber optic cabling to be rewired or new fiber optic cabling to be laid.

City Hall to City Attorney’s Office - $12,045

Police Department to Fire Station No. 111 - $12,315

Miller Park to Temporary Fire Station No. 113 - $15,875

The Information Technology (IT) Department has $80,000 in its approved Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) budget for Fiscal Year 2019 that is dedicated for fiber optic cabling.  The IT Department estimates that an additional $80,000 will be required to meet unforeseen fiber optic cabling needs through August 20, 2019.

This motion is in accordance with the Code of Ordinances Chapter 36, Commission Approval Required and Purchasing Policies, Accessing Contracts from Other Government Agencies and Not-for-Profit Organizations.
