NOMINATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT TO THE CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD

Motion to approve nominations for appointment of two (2) regular members to serve on the Code Enforcement Board for three (3) year terms ending January 14, 2022 and one (1) alternate member to serve an unexpired term ending January 14, 2022.

 

Body

Background:

The term for regular members, Mr. Robert Resnick and Mr. Samuel Spear will expire on January 14, 2019. Mr. Robert Resnick and Mr. Samuel Spear, will have served one (1) full term, are eligible, and would like to be nominated for reappointment. In addition, there is an alternate vacancy due to the resignation of Mr. Ron Gilinsky. The term is unexpired ending January 14, 2022.  Please be advised that Mr. Michael Schiff is an alternate member and would like to be considered to serve as a regular member. Nominations for appointment are needed for two (2) regular members to serve three (3) year terms ending January 14, 2022 and one (1) alternate member to serve an unexpired term ending January 14, 2022. 

 

All members of the Code Enforcement Board must be residents of the City or own property in the City, and/or own a business within the City.  Appointments to both regular and alternate member positions shall be on the basis of experience or interest in the fields of zoning and building control.  The regular and alternate members of the Board shall, whenever possible, include an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a subcontractor, and a realtor. 

 

Regarding the current makeup of this board, the board is in need of an architect, an engineer, a general contractor and a subcontractor.

 

The following individuals have submitted applications and would like to be nominated for appointment:

A check for code violations and/or municipal liens was conducted.  None were found.  Voter registration verification was completed, and all are registered.

 

Based on the rotation system, the nominations for appointment will be made by Mayor Petrolia (Seat #5) and Vice Mayor Frankel (Seat #1) for two (2) regular members to serve three (3) year terms ending January 14, 2022. Commissioner Bathurst will make nomination for an appointment of one (1) alternate member to serve an unexpired term ending January 14, 2022.
