Background:
On October 1, 2018, the Florida Sheriff's Association (FSA) awarded Contract No. FSA-18-VEL26.016 and FSA18-VEH16.0 to twenty-three (23) local car dealerships for vehicles. The contract is valid from October 1, 2018, through September 30, 2019. The FSA offers police rated, special service, administrative, hybrid vehicles, pick-up trucks, and vans.
During the annual 2019 budgeting process, the City of Delray Beach Utilities Department (DBUD) requested a total of five (5) F-550 4x2 class pickup trucks and two (2) F-150 class pickup trucks. Three of the F-550 trucks were programmed for critical use in the deployment of generators, and therefore were requested and approved at the August 21, 2018, City Commission meeting. The request under consideration is for the remaining two F-550 trucks and two F-150 trucks, programmed as equipment for positions requested for the Utilities Maintenance Division during the budget process which were approved and appropriated in the FY2019 operating budget. The two F-550 trucks will go to two new generator technician positions who will assist with the preventive and corrective maintenance of the DBUD’s 74 fixed and portable generators.
