Title
APPROVE RESOLUTION NO. 17-19 ENDORSING THE COMPLETE CLOSURE OF THE BRANT DRIVE BRIDGE DURING THE BRANT DRIVE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT BY THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT).
Body
Recommended Action:
Recommendation
Motion to approve Resolution No. 17-19 endorsing the FDOT with the complete closure of the Brant Drive Bridge to pedestrian and vehicular traffic during the Brant Drive Bridge Replacement Project (P/N 15-064) and authorization of the Mayor or City Manager to execute all necessary documents.
Body
Background:
On January 16, 2018 the City of Delray (CITY) City Commission approved Resolution No. 04-18 endorsing the FDOT for the reconstruction of the Brant Drive Bridge and installation of a Shared Multi-Modal Transportation Path from Oregon Lane to Avocet Road.
In order for FDOT to proceed with the design of the bridge replacement (construction tentatively starting in April 2021 for 12 months in the amount of $1.7 million funded by FDOT), FDOT is requesting that the CITY endorse the complete closure of the Brant Drive Bridge to pedestrian and vehicular traffic so that FDOT's design consultant (Pevida Highway Designers, LLC) can begin engineering design plans for the replacement bridge accordingly.
City Attorney Review:
Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.
Funding Source/Financial Impact:
Funding for the design, engineering, and construction replacement of the Brant Drive Bride is being fully funded through the Florida Department of Transportation. No additional funding is required by the City of Delray Beach.
