Approve the Agreement with BG Group for Site Clearing Grubbing for Carver Isle in an amount not to exceed $22,600.00.

Background:
At the February 12, 2019 CRA Board meeting, staff informed the Board that quotes were being obtained to prepare the Carver Isle site for development of 9 affordable, single-family homes. Staff has received (3) quotes to clear the site of all trees and vegetation:
BG Group $22,600.00
Frederico Inc. $22,700.00
Palm Beach Construction, Inc. $23,500.00
All 3 companies are qualified to do the work and have completed projects for the CRA in the past. The lowest most responsive, responsible bidder was BG Group in the amount of $22,600.00.
Attached is the Agreement with BG Group for the Board’s consideration. The Agreement details the scope of work, and includes all standard requirements including insurance and indemnification. The time frame to complete the work is 30 days form issuance of the tree removal permit. The agreement includes provisions concerning contract termination, liquidated damages and indemnification. The contract sum is $22,600.00 which is all-inclusive for the work being performed and other fees or costs associated with the permits, no additional fees will be paid. Mobilization, removal of debris and associated tipping fees, and restoration of work areas are included in the unit price. Payment will be made once the work is completed. The estimated time frame for completion is 30 days from issuance of a permit from the City of Delray Beach. Further, the agreement also identifies the insurance that must be maintained by the contractor at all times during the Agreement.

Timing of Request:
The work is necessary as part of the initial phase to prepare the site for the construction of the single family homes. The CRA absorbing this cost will assist in maintaining and affordable purchase price for the homes.
