Presentation and Proclaim May 2019 as “We ? Small Biz” Month in Delray Beach, Florida

Background:
Since 1963, the President of the United States has proclaimed National Small Business Week every year in May to recognize the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. This year, National Small Business Week will be celebrated May 5 through May 11, 2019.
Through its unique economic development partnership network, Delray Beach, Florida will also continue its tradition of celebrating our outstanding local entrepreneurs and small business owners by presenting the 5th annual “We ? Small Biz Month,” a power-packed, month-long series of seminars, workshops, promotions and special events designed to show the love Delray Beach has for them.
By issuing this proclamation, the City of Delray Beach demonstrates its support and joins in this national effort to highlight what our entrepreneurs and small business owners do every day - work hard, take risks, create 21st century jobs, support community life, drive innovation and increase Delray Beach’s competitiveness.
It is also noted that the “We ? Small Biz Month” campaign is a central component of Delray Beach’s business retention and expansion strategy which was launched in 2015. Staff will provide a brief presentation on the program and provide key highlights.
