NOMINATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

Motion to approve nominations for appointment for two (2) regular members and one (1) alternate member to serve on the Board of Adjustment for two (2) year terms ending August 31, 2019.

Background:

The term for regular members, Mr. Mark Gregory, Mr. Jess Sowards and Mr. Robert Cohen will expire on August 31, 2019. Mr. Robert Cohen will have served an unexpired term, is eligible and would like to be nominated for reappointment. Mr. Mark Gregory and Mr. Jess Sowards will have served two (2) full term and are not eligible for reappointment. Please be advised that Mr. Robert Cohen is an alternate member and would like to be considered for regular membership. In addition, there is a vacancy for an alternate member due to Mr. Alessandro De Angelis being appointed for regular membership at the City Commission meeting on April 2, 2019. Nominations for appointment are needed for two (2) regular members and two (2) alternate member to serve two (2) year terms ending August 31, 2021. However, only three (3) appointments will be made because there are only three (3) applicants at this time.

 

The Board of Adjustment shall consist of five (5) regular members and two (2) alternate members.  To qualify for appointment, a person shall be either a resident of or own property in the City, and/or own a business within the City. In addition, the City Commission shall fill three seats on the Board with either an architect, landscape architect, realtor/real estate broker, engineer, general contractor or land planner. The remaining two seats shall be at large. The Commission shall endeavor to appoint as many disciplines as possible to the board.

 

The following individuals have submitted applications and would like to be nominated for appointment:

A check for code violations and/or municipal liens was conducted.  None were found. Voter registration verification was completed, and all are registered.

 

Based on the rotation system, the nominations for appointment will be made by Deputy Vice Mayor Bathurst (Seat #2) and Commissioner Boylston (Seat #3) for two (2) regular members to serve two (2) year terms ending August 31, 2021. Vice Mayor Johnson (Seat #4) will make nomination for an appointment of one (1) alternate member to serve a two (2) year term ending August 31, 2021.
