Motion to retroactively approve a State and Local Task Force Agreement with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Background:
This Agreement will allow the Delray Beach Police Department through the Drug Enforcement Administration (hereinafter "DEA”) to work to disrupt the illicit drug traffic in South Florida area by immobilizing targeted violators and trafficking organizations; gather and report intelligence data relating to trafficking in narcotics and dangerous drugs; and conduct undercover operations where appropriate and engage in other traditional methods of investigation in order that the Task Force’s activities will result in effective prosecution before the courts of the United States. The Agreement is for the period of October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020. Due to the fact that the Agreement is due to the DEA by August 15, 2019 and the first available Commission meeting is on August 20, 2019, a retroactive approval of the agreement is requested.
City Attorney Review:
Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.
Funding Source/Financial Impact:
The reimbursable overtime for FY 19/20 would be funded in 001-21-150-521.14-20 (Field Operations - Overtime), pending FY 19/20 budget approval. The reimbursement to the City of Delray Beach for the overtime incurred under this agreement will be provided by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
