Motion to Approve Resolution No. 191-19 in support of Florida Power and Light (FPL) for the installation of LED Street Lights for the SW 4th St., SW 6th St., SW 7th Ave. & SW 3rd Ct. Neighborhood Improvements Project and for the payment of a not-to-exceed amount of $100,000 for the design and installation of these LED fixtures.

Background:
The City of Delray Beach (City) and the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) have a Neighborhood Improvements Project at SW 4th St, SW 6th St, SW 7th Ave and SW 3rd Ct. This project includes improvements to the infrastructure and safety of the neighborhood, including water, sewer, reclaimed water, drainage, sidewalks and street lighting. The street lighting component will enhance public safety and electrical efficiency in the alleyways by replacing the existing cobra-head fixtures with LED fixtures (LED versus the conventional Halogen fixtures).

The street lighting work is designed and installed by Florida Power and Light (FPL). FPL requires that the City pay a not-to-exceed amount of $100,000 prior to commencing any design work. This fee will be applied to the Cost in Aid of Construction (“CIAC”) that the lighting designer will calculate during the engineering review after FPL's design commences.
