Staff recommends the approval to accept grant funding from the FY 2019 State Homeland Security Grant Program.

Background:

The Fire-Rescue Department has been awarded a Homeland Security Domestic Preparedness Grant in the amount of $38,820.00 to provide sustainment of equipment for hazardous materials incidents and incidents involving weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

 

Delray Beach Fire-Rescue Department is a state funded Hazardous Materials Response Team within Florida's Regional Domestic Security Task Force (Region 7). The team is partially funded through the State Homeland Security Grant Sub-Recipient Funding Agreement. This Grant provides for the sustainment and repair of state funded equipment for responses to hazardous materials and WMD incidents.

Funding Source/Financial Impact:

This is a cost-reimbursement Agreement of federally awarded funds from the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA and serviced by the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM).

 

Timing of Request:

The FY 2019 State Homeland Security Grant will be active from September 1, 2019 - March 31, 2021.
