Background:
The City of Delray Beach Fire Rescue Department has been awarded a Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) in the amount of $585,454.54 to purchase self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
The Delray Beach Fire Rescue Department has a need to update its aging SCBA and accessories. Total cost for replacement is estimated at $1,011,000. This AFG will provide much needed funding towards that purchase. As a condition of the grant, the City is required to contribute non-Federal funds equal to or greater than 10 percent (10%) of the Federal funds awarded, or $58,545.46 for a total approved budget of $644,000.
City Attorney Review:
Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.
Funding Source/Financial Impact:
This is a 90/10 matching grant agreement of federally awarded funds from the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA. The financial impact to the City of Delray Beach is limited to the $58,545.46 (10%).
