Motion to approve application for Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (CESF) Program.

Background:

The Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (CESF) Program provides for funding to assist eligible entities in preventing, preparing for, and responding to the coronavirus. The City of Delray Beach is eligible for up to $94,658 in funding, that can be used for overtime, equipment (Including law enforcement and medical personal protective equipment), hiring, supplies (Such as gloves, masks, sanitizer), training, travel expenses (Particularly related to the distribution of resources to the most impacted areas), and addressing the medical needs of inmates in state, local, and tribal prisons, jails, and detention centers.

 

The Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (CESF) Program does not require a match. The funding would cover a two year period. The Police Department would use funding primarily for the purpose of purchasing equipment such as disinfectant sprayer machines, respirators, plexiglass partitions for dispatch consoles, and biohazard suits, as well as supplies such as sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, disposable gloves, safety eyewear and goggles, sanitizer dispensers and stands, face shields, gowns, testing kits, and other personal protective equipment needed to respond to the coronavirus.

 

City Attorney Review:

Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.

The Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (CESF) Program does not require a match.

The grant application deadline is May 29, 2020.
