Motion to approve Resolution No. 15-20 to award an agreement to Playmore West, Inc. for the purchase of playground equipment, surfacing, shade structure and installation for Currie Commons Park improvements totaling $350,000.

 

Body

Background:

On September 9, 2019, the School Board of Manatee County renewed contact No. 16-0025-MR with Playmore West, Inc. for playground equipment, surfacing, shade structure and installation services. The contract is valid through September 8, 2020. Currie Commons Park is located between SE 2nd Avenue and SE 1st Avenue and SE 7th Street and SE 8th Street. Currie Commons Park is located within the Osceola Park Neighborhood Improvement Project and is in need of playground equipment replacement and updating. The Park was built in 2006 and has exceeded its useful life (10-12 yrs). The new playground will have two sections, one for children 5yrs and younger which will feature activities that engage and promote child-directed play. The second section will be best suited for school aged children 12 and under and will challenge kids' bodies, minds and imaginations. Both playgrounds will encourage inclusive play and promote child development.
