Approve the Interlocal Agreement with the City of Delray Beach for the Digital Inclusion Initiative.

Background:
As part of the Digital Inclusion Initiative, the Palm Beach County School District has identified 755 households with students in the City of Delray Beach that are in the “Red Zone” because they have little or no access to internet service. Of the 755 households, 658 households are located within the CRA district. The Palm Beach County School Board has asked the City to provide $28,321.50 to facilitate the purchasing of Wi-Fi extenders to these households as part of the Digital Inclusion Initiative. The City has requested that the CRA contribute $15,321.50 of the $28,321.50 that is needed to facilitate the purchasing of these Wi-Fi extenders. The City of Delray Beach will provide $13,000.00 along with the $15,321.50 from the CRA, for a total of $28,321.50, to the Palm Beach County School District to purchase and distribute the Wi-Fi extenders. The CRA’s contribution will be limited only to purchasing Wi-Fi extenders for households located in the “Red Zone” in the CRA district.
Attached is the Interlocal Agreement (ILA) outlining the CRA’s contribution of $15,321.50 to the City for the Digital Inclusion Initiative, that the CRA’s contribution be limited only to purchasing Wi-Fi extenders for the households located in the “Red Zone” in the CRA district, and a reporting requirement showing that the Wi-Fi extenders were purchased and distributed to the 658 households identified in the “Red Zone” within the CRA district.
CRA staff is bringing this item before the CRA Board for approval. After which, the ILA will be brought before the City Commission.
