Receive a presentation on the rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the Seaboard Air Line Railway Station and provide direction to staff on future use and floor plan for the reconstructed building.

Body

Background:

The Seaboard Air Line Railway Station was designed by renowned architect Gustav A. Maass and constructed in 1927.  The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 and on the Local Register of Historic Places in 1988. Railway activities on the property ceased in 1995 and it purchased by the City of Delray Beach in 2005. On February 25, 2020, a fire consumed the building. Through the City's insurance carrier, reconstruction of the building has been planned and three optional floor plans have been provided. In order to continue to move forward with the reconstruction of the building, a floor plan needs to be chosen.
