Body
Recommended Action:
Recommendation
Motion to approve request for funding from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) pursuant to Florida Statute 932.7055, Disposition of Liens and Forfeited Property, to the Omega Uplifts Foundation, Inc. in the amount of $14,500.

Body

These funds may be expended upon request by the sheriff to the Board of County Commissioners or by the Chief of Police to the governing body of the municipality, accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of the statute and only upon appropriation to the sheriff’s office or police department by the Board of County Commissioners or the governing body of the municipality.

The Police Department recently created a standard application that fulfills the necessary requirements mentioned above. Requests for funding are submitted using the application and are reviewed by the Chief of Police prior to submitting the request to the City Commission for approval. Only upon Commission approval will funds be awarded to the applicants. The applicant information, amount of award, and purpose of the grant is included for Commission review.
