Motion to approve application for the 2021 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $31,395.

 

Body

Background:

The Police Department is asking approval to apply for the 2021 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $31,395.  If awarded, these funds will assist in funding police overtime for the annual Holiday Robbery Task Force.

 

City Attorney Review:

Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.

 

Funding Source/Financial Impact:

The reimbursable overtime for FY 21/22 would be funded in 001-21-150-521.14-20 (Field Operations - Overtime) and 001-21-110-521.14-20 (Special Services - Overtime) accounts, pending approval of this application as well as actual award and budget approval and appropriations for FY 2021/2022. Reimbursement is provided through the U.S. Department of Justice's Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant  (JAG) Program.

 

Timing of Request:

This request is time sensitive due to application deadline of July 26, 2021.
