Background:

 

On August 14, 2021, an Earthquake of 7.2 magnitude struck southwestern Haiti, approximately 10 miles NNW of the City of Aquin.  Tropical Depression Grace also made landfall over southwestern Haiti, generating heavy rains and strong winds.  The Government of Haiti has reported more than 2,207 deaths, 12,200 people injured and more than 129,900 houses damaged or destroyed, including damage to the City of Aquin’s hospital.  Coordinated efforts of the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) and Joint Task Force (JTF), continues in response to the earthquake, including transporting humanitarian personnel and emergency relief commodities from Haiti’s capital City of Port-au-Prince to the affected areas.
