Background:
This Agreement will allow the Delray Beach Police Department through the Drug Enforcement Administration (hereinafter "DEA”) to work to disrupt the illicit drug traffic in South Florida area by immobilizing targeted violators and trafficking organizations; gather and report intelligence data relating to trafficking in narcotics and dangerous drugs; and conduct undercover operations where appropriate and engage in other traditional methods of investigation in order that the Task Force’s activities will result in effective prosecution before the courts of the United States. The Agreement is for the period of October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. To accomplish the objectives of the DEA West Palm Beach Task Force, through this agreement, the City agrees to detail one (1) experienced officer to the DEA West Palm Beach Task Force. During this assignment, the Delray Beach Police Department officer will be under the direct supervision and control of DEA supervisory personnel assigned to the Task Force. DEA will, subject to availability of funds and annual caps, reimburse the City for overtime incurred by the officer related to performing the duties in this assignment.

Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.
Funding Source/Financial Impact:
