Motion to proclaim October 2021 as Fire Prevention Month.
Background:
The history of fire prevention month begins with the creation of the very first fire prevention week in 1922. In that year the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) named the second week of October as fire prevention week. Fire prevention week was established to commemorate The Great Chicago fire of 1871 that took the lives of more than 250 people. It is the recommendation that this Proclamation be approved.
