Background:
The State of Florida has risen to be the national leader in water reuse -- reusing 820 million gallons of reclaimed water per day to conserve freshwater supplies and replenish our rivers, streams, lakes, and aquifers. Florida’s permitted reuse capacity is more than 1.7 billion gallons per day (approximately 67 percent of Florida’s total permitted capacity for all domestic wastewater treatment facilities). WateReuse Florida, the state section of the WateReuse Association, has proclaimed the week of May 15-22, 2022 as Florida Water Reuse Week; and the City of Delray Beach has joined forces with WateReuse Florida along with South Florida Water Management District and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to encourage and promote water reuse and conservation.
