PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF MAY AS HISTORIC PRESERVATION MONTH IN DELRAY BEACH

Background:
Historic Preservation Month, celebrated each year in May, provides an opportunity for the City of Delray Beach to recognize the importance of preserving historic resources and their significance to the local community. Delray Beach is home to 5 historic districts and 38 properties on the Local Register of Historic Places and 2 historic districts and 5 properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
During the month of May 2022, the city will join many other municipalities, states, and national organizations in celebrating this month by proclaiming May Historic Preservation Month.
This month, the city will present Historic Preservation awards to local historic sites and their achievements in the rehabilitation, restoration, and reconstruction of properties that have historic significance to the Delray Beach community.
