Title

DISCUSSION - PUBLIC ART MASTER PLAN

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Discuss desired elements of a Public Art Master Plan Scope of Work.  Discuss and determine whether to recommend City undertake a Public Art Master Plan and the elements that should be recommended to be included in such a plan.

Body

Background:

The PAAB has discussed for some time the need and their desire for a Public Art Master Plan to be created.  Discussions by the Board at their March 3, 2021 workshop and August 23, 2021 regular meeting culminated in a recommendation by PAAB that the City consider allocating funds for a master plan.  These recommendations were formulated into a memorandum shared as back-up information for a PAAB update presentation made by former Assistant City Manager Duncan Tavares at the Commission's September 13, 2021 regular meeting.

A Public Art Master Plan has been a topic of discussion at the last two PAAB meetings (held on March 22, 2022 and April 20, 2022).  At the April 20, 2022 meeting, the board reviewed several such plans from other locales across the country and began a discussion of what should be included in a recommended scope of work for such a plan.  Further, the board requested that staff place another discussion on the this agenda to finalize their list of wanted items to be included in any recommendation to the City Commission.
