Title
APPROVAL OF THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH PALM BEACH COUNTY FOR ACCEPTANCE OF FY2022-23 EMS GRANT FUNDS.
Body
Recommended Action:
Recommendation
Staff recommends the approval Interlocal Agreement, for the purposes of receiving reimbursement for the purchase of Advanced Airway training, from Palm Beach County through the 2022 EMS Grant.
Body
Background:
The Fire-Rescue Department has identified the need to train our new lieutenants in advanced airway management. This can be accomplished by contracting a city vendor that we have used in the past for this purpose.
The Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is authorized by Chapter 401, part II, Florida Statutes to dispense pre-hospital emergency medical services grant funds throughout the state to improve and expand EMS services. Each year, 45% of the EMS Grant funds are divided among the counties to be used by each county for its EMS needs, including reimbursing licensed EMS providers for expenditures.
City Attorney Review:
Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.
Funding Source/Financial Impact:
There is a net-zero financial impact as pre-approved funds used to pay for the training are reimbursed by Palm Beach County through the grant.
Timing of Request:
Upon execution of the ILA, the purchase can be made immediately, and paperwork submitted to Palm Beach County to begin the reimbursement process.
