Background:
in March of 2022, Congresswoman Lois Frankel requested projects from local governments and non-profits that would be eligible for funding from the Community Project Program through the Federal government appropriation process. It was shared with the City that the Congresswoman would be able to submit upwards of 15 projects for funding consideration. The City of Delray Beach forwarded three projects to Congresswoman Frankel's Office within the limited time frame to submit the projects for her consideration. These projects included: 1) several clean water and drinking water needs (including funding for engineering and construction to replace pipes, rehabilitate a lift station building, install variable frequency drives, pumps and associated equipment and the rehabilitation of a wet well) as a single project; 2) Funding to complete upgrades to the Crest Theater; and 3) A project to assist the Police Department in purchasing equipment and software for a Real Time Crime Center. All of the submitted projects were contained within the City's Federal Priorities list and were programmed into the City's Capital Improvement Program for 2022-2026. The City Commission was made aware of the submittals via the City Manager's April 15, 2002 City Commission Informational Letter.
