Motion to approve the appointment of three (3) regular members for an appointment to the Green Implementation Advancement Board for a two (2) year term ending July 31, 2024.

Background:

The terms for regular members Ms. Lisa Shaheen, Mr. Hal Stern, and Shaynaz Malleck will expire on July 31, 2022.  Ms. Lisa Shaheen has served two (2) regular terms and is not eligible for reappointment.  Mr. Hal Stern has served one (1) unexpired term and two (2) regular terms and is not eligible for reappointment.  Ms. Shaynaz Malleck will have served one (1) regular term, is eligible, but would not like to be considered for reappointment.  Nomination is needed for three (3) regular members to serve a two (2) year term ending July 31, 2024.

 

On July 21, 2009, the Delray Beach City Commission adopted Resolution No. 24-09, establishing the Green Implementation Advancement Board for the purpose of making recommendations to the City Commission regarding ways to improve the environmental sustainability of City programs, services, equipment, and facilities; strategies for improving the environmental sustainability of the community / incentives for residents, businesses, and organizations to practice environmental conservation including recycling; proposed means to enhance water and energy conservation; ideas for the promotion of tree planting and xeriscaping; best practices to be considered for implementation in Delray Beach, including long-term strategies; and proposed revision to City Ordinances to address Green Technologies.

 

The Green Implementation Advancement Board shall consist of five (5) regular members and two (2) alternate members.  All members shall have the expertise or an interest in environmental conservation and sustainability and shall be residents of, or own property in the City, own a business within the City, or be an officer, director, or manager of a business located within the City.

 

The following individuals have submitted applications and would like to be nominated for an appointment:

A check for code violations and/or municipal liens was conducted.  None were found.  Voter registration verification was completed, and all are registered.

 

Based on the rotation system, the nomination for three (3) regular members to serve on the Green Implementation Advancement Board for a two (2) year term ending July 31, 2024, will be made by Vice-Mayor Frankel (Seat #1), Deputy Vice-Mayor Casale (Seat #2), and Commissioner Boylston (Seat #3).
