Review and consider Ordinance No. 18-22 on First Reading, a City initiated amendment to the Land Development Regulations (LDR) to clarify the process for the naming of streets, remove duplicative language, and provide associated corrections or clarifications, and refer to the Addressing and Street Naming Manual.

 

Body

Background:

In 2018, the City Commission approved Resolution No. 152-18 to enter into an agreement with Spacial Focus, LLC, a Geographic Information System (GIS) consulting firm specializing in street addressing in the local government arena, to provide specialized addressing services related to the Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) associated with the decennial Census, and to develop a functional Master Address Repository (MAR). As part of the MAR, the consultant has prepared a draft Addressing and Street Naming Manual (“Manual”), which will be adopted by the City Commission by Resolution. In preparing the Manual, Staff identified a series of amendments and updates that are needed to both the LDR and Code of Ordinances.

 

The Planning and Zoning Board considered Ordinance No. 18-22 at its meeting of April 18, 2022; a recommendation of approval was made on a vote of 6 to 0.

Adoption of the Ordinance at 2nd Reading will be concurrent with the adoption of the City's Street Naming and Addressing Manual via Resolution, tentatively scheduled for September 6, 2022.
