Recommendation
Motion to approve Resolution No. 116-22 to enter into a contract agreement with the State of Florida to receive reimbursement funding for Pompey Park improvements which include MEP engineering and permitting, resurfacing of the pool, improvements to the parking lots, purchase and installation of commercial kitchen equipment, pool equipment, and a pavilion.
Body
Background:
The City of Delray Beach requested a legislative appropriation for improvements to Pompey Park. Pompey Park is located at 1101 NW 2nd Street and is a high use facility for child, adult, and senior programming, sports and youth organizations, neighborhood play, meetings, and rentals. The funds requested will provide for much needed improvements to the existing pool, kitchen facilities and parking area. The improvements will include MEP engineering and permitting, resurfacing of the pool, improvements to the parking lots, purchase and installation of commercial kitchen equipment, pool equipment, and a shade pavilion.
The City of Delray Beach has received an appropriation from the State of Florida to reimburse project funding for these items. As part of the eligibility requirements, the State of Florida requires the CIty of Delray Beach to enter into a contract agreement to receive the funding. If funding is granted, it will be provided through a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) grant agreement. The legislative appropriation/grant requires the CIty to commit to funding the project. These funds will be reimbursed by the FDEP grant.
