RETROACTIVE APPROVAL TO APPLY FOR FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023 SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY OF PALM BEACH COUNTY BLIGHTED PROPERTY GRANT

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to approve application to the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County. If approved, this grant would provide funds to address activities related to demolishing an existing structure for future development; the removal of demolition products, rubble and other debris pursuant to zoning requirement within the incorporated city limits of Delray Beach.

Body

Background:

The primary goal of the grant request is to assist in the cleanup or beautification of distressed, blighted or otherwise impacted properties and to maintain safe, habitable and viable neighborhoods.  Grant funds will be used for one demolition project, including pre and post demolition activities.  The property included in the project proposal is listed below and details are included in Exhibit A - Application Package.

1.                     700 West Atlantic Avenue (commercial property)

The demolition project aligns with the objectives of the SWA Blighted Property Grant in that they will improve the quality of life and provide a safer, healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the residents of the City of Delray Beach.  If awarded, it would be an eligible, cost-reimbursement contract funded by the SWA.  The CRA has previously received this grant.
